Castlecrag Extensive Renovation Project

When a leading architect who has worked with countless builders and trades trusts you to carry out all the building work for their home’s renovation, you know you’re at the pinnacle of your industry.

The brief for this job was to take a run-down building and produce a modern home that would sit beautifully within its landscape.

Many factors were involved, including a flame zone fire rating with stringent requirements that had to be met, using restricted building materials.

But despite the challenges presented, this home makes an attractive modern statement and offers something a little bit different from the norm.

Features include:

  • The beautiful railing for the stairs is made from vertical lengths of timber, which is echoed in the painstakingly created outside bench seat and the outdoor balustrade
  • The Core 10 weathered steel panels used on the façade and around the snug fireplace
  • The native blackbutt is used for the floors, ceiling, and walls.
  • Striking black fixtures and fittings
  • And the off-form industrial concrete is used both inside and out.
