Freshwater Extensive Renovation Project

This home in Freshwater certainly was dark and dated, with old-fashioned bricks and an orangey kitchen benchtop. It was squarely set in the 70s.

The before and after pictures are so different that you’d be forgiven for thinking they aren’t photos of the same house.

It took a talented architect and detail-oriented builder to make it the fresh, light, lovely family beach house it is today.

Features include:

  • Raked and panelled ceilings of grand proportions
  • Louvred windows and skylights let in light and coastal breezes
  • Warm Australian hardwood floors and stairs
  • Custom joinery to create window seats, built-in storage, a bespoke desk, and a TV unit with sophisticated leather draw pulls
  • A classic white kitchen, complete with a wine fridge and shaker profiles on the doors and drawers
  • A recessed TV and gas fireplace provide clean lines to make the home feel more expansive
  • Touches of textured stonework bring in a natural element
  • Bifold doors allow the living areas to form one large space and also allow for the rooms to be divided when family members want to do different things

Seaside-inspired bright turquoise, green, and white tiles in the bathroom, meticulously laid in a striking pattern.
